Trophy-flight "Phantom 2008" with the club «Patriot 4x4»

Autumn this year has stood out quite warm, and hence the output requires an active holiday. Adventure, this time was found to have very unusual - my friend, one of the organizers of the club owners UAZ Patriot, invited us to the forest orienteering terrain. Organizer of the event - the club «Patriot 4x4» - emerged in the autumn of 2005, as was arranged sale of the first UAZ Patriot. The new car is no longer state of the plant - what was it? The first winners of this happiness immediately confronted with the shortcomings of crude car, and to share experiences unfamiliar to each other people started to join in a friendly company. And while attacks on nature - in the event of civil or visits to places of military glory gradually recognized the ability of his car in extreme conditions. So we went to this friendly companies to take part in the trophy-flight (orienteering) "Phantom 2008" to see what our car is capable of. Participants of this action has an opportunity to improve (and someone for the first time to obtain) the skills of teamwork, especially for precise work pilot and navigator. After all, on the highway must correctly choose the tactics of taking the points and, if necessary, and quick to use "special" equipment (hi-jack, winch, compressor). Success in orienting depends on teamwork. During the competition the crew asked to look for points of varying degrees of complexity, "value" of 1 to 5 stars. Proof of "taking" point was a photo that is visible vehicle (or part thereof with the starting number), number of control points and to touch them on the team. The victory belongs to those who pick up more points in the allotted time - 10 hours of testing for the teams and cars ... Full orientation promised to gradually evolve into the night, after an autumn day, not so long, and we came to the training very seriously. First we found out that you should bring. Experience travel on the road we have already had, so we were confident in the capabilities of our war-horse Suzuki Escudo, but the competition going for the first time. So, armed with a PDA with navigation software Ozi Explorer, supply of food, hand winch, hi-jack and a compressor, early on Saturday morning we drove out to the side of Vladimir region, the camp participants, which is located near Chernogolovka. Participants accumulated about 50 cars, mostly it was the Patriots, but the company was diluted with a few Hunters, "a loaf", nicknamed "Tadpole, Niva, Suzuki Jimny and our Escudo. Entry to the "Phantom" got all the cars wheel formula 4x4 category "B" and ATVs. According to the organizers machines were divided into three categories: 1. Stormtrooper - the car as standard original equipment. Wheel size - regular (maximum diameter - 32 inches). Mud tread is allowed. The winch is permitted to use. 2. Mirage - a car with a modified original equipment. Wheel size - diameter of not less than 32 inches but not more than 37 inches. The presence of a working winch - necessarily, the presence of chain saws - is recommended. 3. UFO - ATVs of any modifications, equipped with headlamps lighting. Our Suzuki Escudo with a ground clearance of about 25 cm wheels BFGoodrich MUD Terrain 30-th diameter and hi-jack defined in class "kids" (storm troopers), in which cars were in the factory as well as prepared to travel on the road. Arriving to the scene on Saturday morning, we checked, chose as a board room number "8". Before the briefing, there was still a little time and we managed to ease the trunk, leaving behind only the off-road equipment, food and fluids required ... At the briefing, the club president Tatiana (VIXEN) described in detail all that will be participating in the next few hours, described the route, gave practical advice to support the communication and the choice of route, and then responded to questions. Finally the participants were given maps with marked points and coordinates. The start was given at 12 o'clock. But nobody pulled from their seats - the navigator has hammered the coordinates of points in the navigator to determine the best route. The points were scattered in three forest sites, the lungs odnoballnye occurred right near the road, two-tenths had to search a little deeper, to a 3-4-point everything had to be on the track, where you can easily get to the bottom, well, a 5-point were calculated rather on the "Mirage" to them without the enormous effort not podbereshsya. Leaving the track, we took a few simple points and decided to go deep into the forest where the trail became more saturated. On our car, even 3-tenths points were given without much difficulty. And our crew arrived at the first "quadruple" ... Despite warnings to the organizers, that such points we'd better go around, we realized that this problem is us on the shoulder, and the route of taking the points were quickly rebuilt. Now the car has appeared in more severe conditions - at the next stretch between the disc and rubber clogged sand and left front wheel started to quickly lower the air. Fortunately, the team drove past on the UAZ Patriot with which we often crossed the road. The guys gave us a compressor more powerful than ours. Perfectly clean dirt stuck, we can easily revived the wheel, and along with a bite. The clock was already 16, and it seemed that from the start was nothing at all. Again in a way, soon we were near the complex 5-point point, and, of course, decide to look at it. After watching wanting to get to her through the woods, our navigator decided to hold the machine directly (by removing the road a couple of logs) - this decision was the easiest and most reliable - the highest point on ballnosti we took! Our team conquered the route until dark, and finally a real racing excitement sent us back to where many tempting points were very close to each other. However, the day of the road there got the form of traces of the slaughter of prehistoric monsters. Here we first got stuck, and thorough - the car fell into a deep rut, strongly tipped, liquid and "pavement" beginning to wade into the cabin of our Escudo. Came to the rescue UAZ Hunter: Carefully pull our car, he literally flew farther into the darkness, we barely had time to tell the guys thank you. Taking the last point, we went to was in the camp, but then that same wheel again razbortirovalos. At this time the tires fell off entirely from the disk, and Hunter, who was riding back to get our car was not able to, had bortirovat wheel on the ground - raised the car hi-jack, a winch attached to a tree, and only managed to slowly pump it. However, for all these exciting process, we completely forgot about the battery - when you try to start the car the starter was able to make a couple of turnovers and treacherously fell silent ... until the closing track - just half an hour, and the autumn evening we had already covered the darkness and cold. At this time, help came only an hour - the guys on the Patriot, accompanied by a tow truck ZIL 131 helped to start the car, and we quietly went back to camp. Prepare a similar event - a lot of work. Rolling road began on July 13, already three months before the competition. Cars were broken, but the following weekend were back in service. Participants have already proven track gets, but the pioneers made their way through thickets, and sank into the wood-ruts and bogs. Separate contract with the military part of the provision of a tow truck - three-axle all-wheel drive armored ZIL 131 with a winch. From Thursday to Sunday, with hot meals for the participants engaged in off-road cafe "Reservation". Were established friendly relations with the local traffic police so that they loyal to the jeep, mud thrower on the pavement in advance were purchased gifts and souvenirs for the participants and guests. And on the appointed day, a couple of hundred (maybe more) people have a very modest entry fee a nice variety of routes (in dzhiperskih circle is called the "good sausage) and a true celebration of communication with old and new friends. This weekend was definitely the best! Unfortunately, we could not stay overnight at the camp, so pogrevshis the fire, put the spare wheel and started the return journey. Despite the fact that finish on time, we did not have time, our team took with them the consolatory gift and a lot of new impressions. As it turned out, even a standard car with proper tactics can be very much, and I am confident that with the experience of my team will come not a victory.
